Terylene, an abundant but unstable material that has been used in plastics for decades, has finally been made a material for flexible electronics.

“This technology will enable a wider range of new applications, including new materials for computer chips, wearable sensors, energy storage and power electronics,” it said.
“This technology is the most promising of its kind in the world.”
The agency said the company’s work is supported by an award from the National Science Foundation.
It said it was developing an “active, flexible, and strong” material for “electronic and mechanical devices.”
The material, called terylene, is also the first material to be used in an advanced battery for the power grid.
Its main feature is the ability to store electrical energy in a battery pack that is flexible and elastic, meaning it can be moved and bent and flexed in various ways.
