Liverpool FC have hired former Manchester United assistant coach Martin Jol as their new coach.
The 51-year-old Jol, who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2018, was a part of the first United squad that qualified for the Champions League last season, but has spent the past six seasons as a coaching assistant with Manchester United.
Jol spent the 2016-17 campaign as the assistant manager at Real Madrid and managed them to the 2015 Champions League final.
He was sacked after the campaign and was the only player to miss out on that tournament.
His appointment was welcomed by Liverpool’s fans who felt Jol had been an integral part of their success this season.
The former Netherlands international played over 1,000 games for United, winning two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in the process.
